Hopefuldreams

Gentle breaking and training.

Natural horsemanship

Here at Hopeful Dreams we teach everything. Neal, laying down, sitting . Just whatever you would like for your horse to do. Kneeling is really cute and it can be a real bonus when mounting your horse. Once he has kneeled you just put your foot in the stirrup and let the horse stand and your already half way there. If need be we can even teach them to lay while you mount but be reminded the way up can be a fast ride as the horse stands.

We also like to teach our horses a low head set and we like a lot of lateral flex in them. The below pictures are of a stallion which is for sale as we speak.

Here is a little about our back ground and how we got started.

My wife and I pride ourselves with our personal horse training tactics. My dad has been training horses since I was a child. So I have been around it my entire life. He still helps me out with ground work but he doesn't break anymore. We started breaking for the public in 2000. In January of 2003 My wife and I were both training full time. We have trained hundreds of horses through out the years and have fixed all types of problems.

We do all types of training.  We specialize in starting. 30 day horses usually just learn the basics.  Backing,  reining,  brakes, lots of miles, And a good transition through all there speeds.  But in some cases we will be much further along and we will continue to teach as much as possible being very careful to not teach too much at once and confusing the horse. Once the horse is mentally set and ready we can teach reining, cow work, roping, team penning, pulling from the horn, side passing, opening gates, western pleasure, breaking at the pole, jumping, Play day events and more. We try to work at the horses pace but with every horse being different it is hard to say how long certain thing will take.

We can train tricks such as laying down (see above Pictures),  bowing,  Riding with out a bridle,  standing from the saddle,  cracking a whip standing from the back of a horse and much more.  We can also teach the horse to let us shoot a gun from there back. Call and set up a time for a demo.  My dad and I love to show off all the tricks we can make our horses do. I will have them available on video in the near future.

Something else to consider for the people that love horses but for what ever reason they can't mount there horse anymore with out a mounting block. We can train your horse to kneel down for you to get on and off of. Even lay down if necessary.  For the people using mounting blocks to ride this gives you the freedom of dismounting and mounting on a trail ride and you don't have to worry about how you are going to get back on. Something to consider for even your broke horses.

If you are wondering if your horse has what it takes remember this statement.  A great horse is made not bred.  The best bred horse in the world is only as good as his training.  Now with saying all that remember what they say about opinions

Need your horse boarded.

We also offer wagon rides if you would like to have a wagon at your party let us know. We currently have a surrey with room for four adults.

We do accept stallions. However there is an additional $10 charge per week. Due to the extra care stallions require

Your satisfaction and your horse is very important to us. All horses can be trained regardless of  breed or age. Horseback riding should be an enjoyment, not a chore.  We have lots of references upon request. We have reasonable rates and financial arrangements can be worked out.  We are located in the North Central Texas area. In some cases, depending on mileage range we can even pick up and deliver the horse back to you after training since some horses need to be taught how to load as well as ride.

Rates and fees

Current prices are $500 a month we feed them. $450 a month you supply feed and hay. For a one time fee of $120 we include farrier care, daily wormer, shots, coggins. This price is subject to change as the barn is completed. Just a little note we have had some hot checks wrote in the past so we like to keep our payments coming in weekly or at least bi-weekly. This helps us keep a steady income and keeps us from taking the chance of big hot checks. As far as how much feed to bring if you go that route. A average horse of 1000 pounds stall kept will eat about 30 pounds a day to stay in shape while in training. I like to feed 20 pounds of hay and 6 to 12  pounds of grain depending on the horses needs. so that is two square bales a week and 1 sack of feed. Now every one has there own feeding program so  following a different program for yours and your horses  needs is fine.

We will be offering training video's soon with all sorts of stuff from the step by step process of starting horses to finishing and advanced stuff. These will be DVD and VHS so get your order in now.
