Trail Ride 1-3-04 First ride of the new year.

Decatur Grass Lands

  We started with 30 riders on this trip. After the first five miles we broke for lunch and lost six riders. The ride was more than they bargained for and took the short cut back to the truck. The rest of us went on to ride about twenty miles. We do some loping and that is more than some of the riders were ready for. Them going back was probably a good thing since the next 15 miles were a little faster and even some of our better riders were ready to find the truck. We only lost one rider on the trail and luckily every thing turned out okay. We just had to spend some time looking for the horse. That was the second time we lost a horse on the 22,000 acres. Once he was found the ride continued on. We got back to the truck about an hour before dark. Horses and riders were ready for the day to be over.
